Farm Girl
Quilts

January 15, 2024

Recently, a friend of mine told me that I am such a farm girl. I wasn’t sure if it was a compliment or not so I had to stop and exam what that meant. Google says that a farm girl is a girl that has grown up on a farm, but how does that differ from other people?
I came up with a list on how it may be different.

I have more boots than high heels or dress shoes.

I know how to work hard and am not afraid to get dirty.

I get excited about the smell of dirt, plants starting to grow and hearing canning jar lids pop when they seal. I try to be as self-sufficient as possible.

I am very creative and am a maker. I know how to do things that would surprise you. I am strong willed. I don’t give up.

I have a huge sense of community. I will help you whenever I can. I also appreciate it when you return the favor. We are in this together!

They say there are no atheist farmers. That applies to farm girls as well. We can’t do it on our own.

I don’t have time for drama.

I am taking my friend’s remark as a compliment. In fact, as we are prepping to move to part of my parent’s farm that we recently bought, the need to change my business name from Needle & Thread Quilts to Farm Girl Quilts seemed to suit me more and more. I am excited about the change! I have a lot of plans in the works! (My dad’s cousin says I make him tired! LOL!)
So buckle up and I’ll let you know what is happening as it unfolds! Thanks for riding along with me! You make the ride even more fun!
